Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed higher in the Tuesday’s session.

Umang Dairies(up 10.47%), ADF Foods(up 4.80%), Jyothy Labs(up 3.17%), Hindustan Unilever(up 2.71%), Marico(up 2.05%), Nakoda Group(up 1.49%), DFM Foods(up 1.48%), Sheetal Cool Products(up 1.24%), Britannia Industries(up 1.22%) and Dangee Dums(up 1.09%) stood among the top gainers.

Future Consumer(down 3.57%), Vadilal Industries(down 1.81%), Zydus Wellness(down 1.13%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(down 1.08%), Prataap Snacks(down 0.67%), Euro India Fresh Foods(down 0.65%), Hindustan Foods(down 0.61%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(down 0.47%), Parag Milk(down 0.35%) and Gillette India(down 0.27%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 158.45 points up at 18053.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 562.75 points at 60655.72.

Larsen & Toubro(up 3.55%), Hindustan Unilever(up 2.71%), HDFC(up 1.77%), HCL Technologies(up 1.59%), HDFC Bank(up 1.49%), Reliance Industries(up 1.42%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.33%), Eicher Motors(up 1.3%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.28%) and UltraTech Cement(up 1.27%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, State Bank of India(down 1.67%), Bajaj Finserv(down 0.79%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.72%), Wipro(down 0.56%), Tata Steel(down 0.5%), Bajaj Finance(down 0.43%), Coal India(down 0.3%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.29%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.27%) and JSW Steel(down 0.22%) closed in the red.
