CHENNAI: External affairs minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday that India’s economy was growing steadily and was set to become the third-largest economy by 2030.
Speaking at the 53rd anniversary of “Thuglak” magazine, he covered a range of issues on why India matters, such as India’s economic condition, foreign policy, the way India handled Covid-19, its cooperation with other developing countries, and how it handled China’s intrusion in the northeast.
“India’s growth is visible in economic matters. At present, India is the fifth-largest economy, and by the end of this decade, or sooner, India will become the third-largest economy. India is emerging as an influential voice. Its ideas and initiatives are given importance, which was evident from the UN declaring 2023 as the international year of millets at the behest of India,” Jaishankar said.
